Pitman & Brown is a custom home builder that focuses on client satisfaction. Located in Fairhope, AL, Pitman Brown formally known as H C Pitman was founded by Cliff Pitman in 1979. Joined by Fairhope native Robert Brown in 1998, the company has continued to earn a reputation of building quality custom homes while bringing a level of integrity, service and professionalism that is unparalleled in the home building industry.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1978 with a degree in Building Science, Cliff worked for Thompson Construction. In 1979, Cliff had the opportunity to move to Fairhope and start HC Pitman Inc. Cliff is a strong advocate for the housing industry. Cliff has been an active member on the Baldwin County Home Builders Association for 34 years where he has served as association president. In 2010, Cliff was the first Baldwin County member to serve as president of the Home Builders Association of Alabama. Cliff continues to serve the HBAA in various positions as well as National Director and also has served 5 years on the Baldwin County Board of Adjustments & Appeals.
In 2005, Cliff was awarded the prestigious Builder of the Year Award by the HBAA. Cliff currently holds three designations from the National Association of Home Builders, Certified Graduate Builder(CGB), Certified Graduate Remodeler(CGR) and Grand Master Builder(GMB). Cliff also has served on the Board of Directors for the Single Tax Corporation in Fairhope for 12 years.
Cliff is married to Jody Pitman and has four children, Jenna, Jill, Jana and Clay. The Pitmans are members of St James Episcopal Church in Fairhope.
After graduating from Fairhope High School, Robert joined the US Army and had the honor to serve in the Persian Gulf War. After completed his military service, Robert attended Auburn University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Building Science degree in 1997. Upon graduation, Robert was hired by HC Pitman and a few years later became a partner. Robert also is an active member of the Baldwin County Home Builders Association as well as the Home Builders Association of Alabama. Robert served as the president of the BCHBA in 2009 and 2010 and is currently serving on the HBAA executive committee.
In 2011 Robert was awarded the state Remodeling in Excellence Award for the Fellers Renovation. Also in 2011 Robert was awarded the HBAA Builder of the Year Award by his state peers. Robert currently holds two designations from the National Association of Home Builders, Certified Green Builder(CGB) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist(CAPS).
Robert is married to Monteigne Brown and has three children, Reid, Ellie and James. The Browns are active members of Fairhope United Methodist Church.
